Israeli forces aborted a "terrorist" operation on the Israeli borders with Egypt and a number of terrorists were killed, Ofir Gendelman, Israeli Prime Minister's spokesman to the Arab media, said on Friday.

"Israeli forces killed three terrorists on our borders with Egypt as they were trying to carry out a terrorist operation," Gendelman wrote on Twitter.

The terrorists who planned an attack in Israel and tried to sneak in from Sinai were carrying explosive belts, Gendelman added.

Israeli forces are currently sweeping the area.
