Angola: Inventors, Creators Visit University Campus

Luanda — Angolan inventors and creators visited Friday the Agostinho Neto University (UAN) Campus in Luanda, as part of the interaction with the research and productive sector, with a view to their participation in the International IENA Invention Fair, in Nuremberg, Germany.

For more than an hour of visit guided by the director of UAN Office of Scientific Research and Investigation, Arlindo Isabel, the inventors and creators toured the various departments of the campus that accommodates more than 4,000 students in the subjects of sciences, physics and engineering.

Being an institution that has as its sponsor the first president of Angola, the inventors and creators attended a lecture on "Pros and cons of the carbon market, the environment in question" delivered by professor João Serôdio de Almeida.

On the occasion, director Arlindo Isabel showed satisfaction with the election by the visitors and the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Technology (MESCT).

"The power to invent is not obtained from the University, but is a special gift that enables to create, inventor transform equipment applicable in areas of sciences. For this reason, the relation between the academy and this sector is very important as it permits create new consciousness and serves as a reference for students," he stated.

Moreover, the academy follows any line of investigation and the Angolans inventors and creators have the doors open to work in areas of research existing in UAN.

For this edition, taking place From November 1-4, the Angolan delegation will take to the event inventions and creations like the system of compulsory use of safety devices at workplace, a keyboard and mouse for disabled people which, together with the use the baobab fruit ( múcua), won the 4th edition of the Angolan inventor / creator fair.

This event aims, in addition to developing a local culture based on creativity and innovation that fosters the development of technologies in the country, to rank three representatives to the IENA International Fair in Nuremberg - Germany.

The inventor / creator Augusto Inácio Simão had come in the first and third positions with the works system of compulsory use of safety devices at manufacturing companies (helmet and focus during the work).

The second work is the keyboard and mouse for disabled or physically impaired people without upper limbs.

The second place went to inventor /creator Mabiala Damascus, who presented the technological use of the baobab fruit (múcua).

According to the body of the jury, three representatives will be attending the Fair of Germany and as the first and third places were taken by the same inventor, there was a need to fill this gap with the fourth place, that is Alcino Gomes, who had a gearbox that differs from the ordinary ones.
