Angola: Pregnant Women Join HIV/Aids Test in Ondjiva

Ondjiva — At least 5,187 pregnant women were tested for HIV/AIDS during the first half of this year.

The prcess was carried out in the division of the cuts transmission programme in the general hospital of Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, Angop has learnt.

The official of the sector's statistical institution, Ocatavio Daniel, considered satisfactory the women's turnout, as of 5,187 tested, 211 are HIV positive and will be submitted to the vertical section to avoid infecting their babies.

He noted that accross the region women are among the majority to know their HIV status than men, a situation that worries the leaders of the health sector.
