Rwanda: Costa Takes Early Lead

RWANDA'S Olivier Costa dominated the second day of the KCB Mt. Gorilla rally after leading the overall standings with a total time of 2:22:07 in 150km.

Elefter Mitraros secured second slot after clocking 2:31:22 in the second day which saw drivers passing Muhondo, Rwahi and Shyorongi.

Uganda's Fred Wampamba in a Toyota Celica emerged third with a total time of 2:48:02. He was followed by Rwanda's Francois Cyatangabo in a Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Reigning national champion Davite Giancarlo won the super stage action on Friday in a time of 4:29 but he was not anywhere among the top two in yesterday's leg.

The three-day rally comes to a climax this afternoon with drivers navigating twice through Nduba, Kajevuba, Rusasa, Rudogo, Remera and Nyacyonga in the morning and in the afternoon before retiring at Expo Grounds in Gikondo.

Giancarlo finished second, behind Jean Yves Ranarivelo of Madagascar in last year's edition.
