Nigeria: CJN to Swear in Akaahs, Alagoa As South Court Justices Wednesday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Mariam Aloma-Mukhtar will, on Wednesday, inaugurate Kumai Bayang Akaahs, and Bayelsa State-born Stanley Shinko Alagoa as Supreme Court justices.

Justice Akaahs replaced the suspended Court of Appeal president, Justice Ayo Isa Salami, as the 2011 presidential election petition tribunal chairman after Salami was suspended for refusing to apologise to former CJN, Aloysius Katsina-Alu for allegedly lying on oath.

Their swearing-in by the CJN was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Press and Information of the Supreme Court, Festus Akande and made available to journalists in Abuja.

According to the statement, Justice Muktar would y administer the oath of office on the newly appointed Justices at the Main Court Auditorium of the Supreme Court of Nigeria at 10:00 am.
