Gambia: GAMCEL Gets New General Manager

A long-serving staff of the Gambia Telecommunication Company (Gamtel) has been appointed as the new general manager of the national GSM operator, Gamcel. Almamy Kassama, who received his letter of appointment on Friday, September 21st, 2012, replaces Phoday Sisay, who reportedly retired after more than three decades working with Gamtel/Gamcel.

Speaking to the Daily Observer Sunday in an interview at his Fajara residence, Kassama said: "Yes I have received my appointment letter on the 21st September 2012 as the general manager of Gamcel. Let me immediately express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, the president of the Republic, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh for the appointment and to reassure him that I will live up to expectations."
