Egypt: El-Gohary Probes With Swiss Ambassador Recovering Smuggled Money

Head of the Judicial Committee for recovering smuggled money Essam el-Gohary discussed on Monday 24/9/2012 with Swiss Ambassador in Cairo Dominic Furgler means of fostering cooperation in order to recover looted, smuggled Egyptian funds.

The 700 million Swiss francs frozen by the Swiss authorities do not include the money of 17 senior officials of the former regime which Switzerland had frozen on September 6, 2012, Furgler said.

Switzerland is currently conducting a survey of the funds and assets of the 17 former officials and a meeting involving officials from the two countries is expected to be held in the Swiss capital shortly to discuss progress in the investigations.
