South Africa: IFP MP's to Visit Dakota Informal Settlement

press release

IFP Members of Parliament and Councillors will visit Dakota Informal Settlement at Isipingo Beach in Ward 90, at 15h30 tomorrow, Friday 28 September 2012 to see for themselves the reportedly squalid conditions the residents of that area are living in. This visit by Public Representatives follows pleas by some residents who asked for a political intervention to address their plight.

According to the residents, Dakota came into existence in the late 1990's yet since then they do not have toilets, electricity, water and roads. Some of their houses are falling apart. They have made representations to the eThekwini Municipality and promises have been made time-and-again without any being fulfilled.

All media are invited to accompany the MP's and Councillors on this visit.
