The stage is set for the highly anticipated Namrock 2012 Festival taking place on Friday and Saturday this week in the entertainment area next to the Merry Go Round at the Windhoek Show grounds. The festival marks the beginning of open-air entertainment at the Windhoek Show.
The two-day concert promises to be even bigger and better than before. Organiser of the event, Michael Ott said that this year's show will showcase twenty Namibian rock acts, four more than last year. Also, it will be an open-air event and not in a tent as last year.
Rock and Music lovers can look forward to rocking live music and a bigger stage. In total 20 Namibian rock acts (close to seventy musicians) will be on stage during the two days. The entertainment is provided by sixteen bands and four acoustic acts. The audience will get a taste of all of the more established rock bands such as Gazoline, Famaz Attak, Penilane, Desdemona, and also newcomers such as Afterthought from Swakopmund, the X-Tremez band from Keetmanshoop, and The Four Right Chords and RVR from Windhoek.
Ott invited Windhoek residents saying people must attend the show and show support for local talent. "The 2012 Namrock festival is shaping up to be even more successful than last year, when more than 4000 people attended the show. This year promises to be a massive event" she exclaimed.
The Tafel Lager Namrock Festival is part of the official Windhoek Show entertainment programme. People will only pay entrance to the Windhoek Show (N$ 40 for adults, N$20 for students) and once inside the show grounds, access to the Tafel Lager Namrock Festival is free.
