Kenya: Record Entries for 2012 Fire Awards

This year's financial reporting awards has received a record 95 entries with several companies pledging to support the initiative which seeks to recognize exemplary accounting standards among companies.

The award ceremony which will be held on October 25, is jointly organised by Nairobi Securities Exchange, Capital Markets Authority and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

The awards dubbed fire are currently in the 11th year and seeks to recognize excellence in financial reporting among corporate bodies in the East African Region.

It seeks to promote and institutionalize transparency, integrity, and accountability in the corporate reporting process. Sponsors for the awards include KASNEB, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, IRA and Wachira & Irungu. "Our main aim is to enhance financial reporting as well as manage accuracy in reporting," said KASNEB chief executive Pius Nduati.
