Words could not possibly define the atmosphere that Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum hip hop artist Eve's show created over the weekend at the Doc Jubber Stadium.
The 'triple threat' - artist, actor and fashion designer - rolled back the years as she engaged the crowd with hits that made her a worldwide icon such as "Let Me Blow Ya Mind."
The rapper-songwriter, record producer and actress was simply in her element showing exactly why she has sold over 8 million copies world-wide.
She also sang 'Tamborine' and a verse off the remix of DMX's popular 'Ruff Ryders Anthem'.
A galaxy of stars already set the mood early on and by the time the 'First Lady of Ruff Ryders' appeared on stage, a deafening roar welcomed her, and the packed Doc Jubber Stadium came to life.
Eve surely did her background on Namibia and before her second performance of the night, she muted the crowd by calling for an end to passion killings.
"To all the men out there who lay hands on a woman, you need to feel ashamed! We all need to stop passion killing. For this I will sing a song," she said before sending the crowd into a total frenzy when they heard another hit of hers entitled, "Love is Blind." Moreover, the fans were in a frenzied mood as energetic performances from Zambian singer Roberto, Ugandan songstress Naava and Angolan Sally had the crowd grooving while the introduction and performances of Big Brother finalist Lady May soared the energy levels even more.
In addition, local group Maszanga held their own, while the Yazizza crew spearheaded by Sunny Boy added the distinction of opening for a prolific Eve, before local group PDK and Mshasho King 'The Dogg' attempted to steal the show with magnificent performances of their own.
Ultimately, the American rapper Eve was arguably the highlight of the night and though no one could really sing along to the song 'She Bad Bad,' hands were waving and the crowd was 'ecstatic' to put it mildly.
Seven women had the chance to dance on stage before the grand finale and if the noise levels were anything to go buy, this show was a resounding success.
The artist has sold over 8 million albums worldwide, while her musical debut album, Eve-First Lady of Ruff Ryders, went double platinum, while her sophomore release, Eve-olution, went platinum. Eve has rubbed shoulders with Fast and the Furious 5's Dom (Vin Diesel) in XXX, and appeared alongside King of Comedy Cedric the Entertainer in Barbershop I & II before starring in her self-titled sitcom, Eve.
