Goan Institute beat Kenya Ladies XI by 7 wickets in the NPCA Twenty20 cricket league at Nairobi Jafferys yesterday.
Chasing a modest score of 75 to win, Goan achieved the set target with 5 overs to spare. Abhijeet Sarkal was the top scorer with 15 runs. He was followed closely by Nishith Vagjiani who made 14. They two lost their wickets to Faith Mwende who finished with 2 for 21. Nikunj Vadhal added 13 before he was bowled by Ruth Mwihaki.
Lydia Kaparo had earlier top scored for the Ladies team with 18. After a slow start, that saw them put on 14 in five overs, Kaparo put on 39 for the second wicket with Doline Adhiambo (15). Kaparo's long inning ended in the 13th over when she was caught off Salim Ramji's bowling. The stand was broken by Madhav Khetiya who had Adhiambo caught in the 10th over.
Margaret Banja was the other batter with meaningful score in the inning with seven runs.Ramji was the top wicket taker for Goan with 3 for 3 in 4 overs. The batter to fall to Salim's slow arm was last weeks top scorer Sarah Bhakita whom she had caught on a duck off three balls.
