Sierra Leone: Confucius Institute Strengthens China-Sierra Leone Relations

On September 27, Chinese ambassador to Sierra Leone Kuang Weilin inaugurated the Confucius Institute at the University of Sierra Leone. Present at the ceremony were Minister of Education, Science and Technology Dr. Mikhailu Bah, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mrs. Ebun Jusu, Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone Prof. Jonas Redwood Sawyer, as well as a Chinese delegation led by vice mayor of Ganzhou Municipality Chen Xiaochun.

Ambassador Kuang read a letter of congratulations from the Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing. In his speech thereafter, he emphasized that the inauguration of the Confucius Institute was a new symbol of China-Sierra Leone friendship and a new development of cultural exchanges between the two countries, which would facilitate the mutual understanding between the two peoples.
