Gambia: Mbye Njie Continues Testimony

Mbye Njie, the former director of Operation at the NDEA on Tuesday continued his defence testimony in a criminal trial involving the State against him before Principal Magistrate Taiwo Ade Alagbe of the Banjul Magistrates' Court.

Njie told the court that he was neither cautioned nor charged before being brought to court. He further described his case as Benedict Jammeh Versus him (Mbye Njie) and not the State Versus Mbye Njie as it is in the charge sheet. He stated that he was promoted well before Benedict Jammeh was appointed in the NDEA as Jammeh came to NDEA as the executive director three months after his (Njie) promotion.
