Kenya: Labour Ministry Says Airline Sackings Flawed

THE ministry of labour has accused Kenya Airways of giving its employees a raw deal in the recent retrenchment exercise. Senior ministry officials led by assistant minister Sospeter Ojaamong appeared before Parliament's Labour and Social Welfare Committee and accused KQ of being "cruel and barbaric" to the 576 employees retrenched in August.

Ojaamong dismissed as "pure lies" Transport minister Amos Kimunya's evidence before the same committee earlier yesterday that the ministry of labour had been consulted before the retrenchment was done.
