Nigeria: Police Recover Maryam Abacha's Jewellery From Robbers

When a gang of robbers hatched the plan to raid the Kano home of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, located in Nassarawa Quarters, where some of his family members live, they knew they were onto something big, if they succeeded. It was a high stake operation that demanded utmost planning and attention to details and the robbers were ready to throw in everything they had to ensure a successful operation. They knew they were taking a big risk, given the status of the owners of the house and the fact that the house is within the precinct of the Nassarawa Police Division; but it was a risk worth taking as they expected to make a haul from their outing.

At about 8pm on that fateful day on December 8, 2011, the five-man robbery gang breached the property, located on Bank Road in Nassarawa area, one of the many the late maximum ruler had in Kano. The brick-painted building serves as an alternative to the family house situated on Gidado Road, Kano.
