Nigeria: Reps Reject 34 Percent Budget Release for Abuja PHCN

The House of Representatives committee on Power yesterday berated the ministry of Finance for releasing just N1.2 billion to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria's (PHCN) Abuja Electricity Distribution Company out of the N3.5 billion appropriated to the company in the 2012 budget. This represents 34 percent budget release in the firm's 2012 appropriation.

Deputy Chairman of the committee, Rep Ibrahim Ebbo expressed displeasure over the development yesterday when he led other members of the committee on an oversight visit to the company in Abuja.
