Maputo — The General Command of the Mozambican police announced on Tuesday that it will respect the court order to release businessman Bakhir Ayoob, despite what the police believe is strong evidence connecting him to the wave of kidnappings that has shaken the business community over the past year.
Bakhir was arrested at his Maputo home on 21 September. Anonymous police sources told reporters that Bakhir was suspected of ordering five successful kidnappings, one abortive kidnapping and two murders.
