Ghana: Gas Coy Fails to Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment

The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has come under severe criticism by the Nzema Youth Association for failing to conduct an environmental impact assessment before commencing the gas processing plant at Atuabo in the Western Region.

According to the youth, since the gas processing plant comes with associated environmental challenges, it would have been prudent for the state-owned company to conduct an environmental impact assessment of the project and make its findings public to enable the surrounding communities make informed decisions.
