Zimbabwe: Decision Time On the Constitution Soon!

As we gear up for the Second All-Stakeholders Conference and the referendum after that, both of which may or may not be bloody and violent, one thing is very clear: The legal integrity and independence of the constitution are at stake, threatened by politics and political innuendos and never-ending power struggles based on personalities and party lines.

Therefore the challenge we face as a nation is to see through the murky waters of myopic and volatile politics, go beyond that straight to the content and expedient process. Unless and until we focus on and deal decisively and comprehensively with content, all efforts and resources will be lost at the altar of cheap political power. Content should be our express focus. For this to happen, it is pivotal that we take note of two and two things above all else.
