The backlog of patients waiting for cancer of the cervix treatment is almost eliminated at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital following regular maintenance of oncology machines as well as dedication of staff.

The health workers including nurses, doctors and radiographers at the hospital are working overtime providing treatment to the patients who missed their appointments due to faulty machines.
