Gambia: 'Immigration Has Every Right to Stop People Travelling Illegally'

The public relations officer of the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has insisted that the Department has every right to stop people from travelling illegally.

ASP Ensa Jawara made the remark Wednesday during an interview with the Daily Observer at the GID head office in Banjul, after five more Gambians - four of them from Lower River Region, and one from North Bank Region, were intercepted while trying to travel illegally. This came barely two weeks after 40 young Gambians trying to migrate illegally to Europe were intercepted by immigration personnel at Kerr Ayub Border Post in the North Bank Region.
