Angola: Dissemination of Anti-Retroviral Access Deemed Important to Fight HIV/Aids

Luanda — The Secretary of Aids Association (Anaso), António Coelho, said on Thursday here that one of the ways to reverse the fighting against HIV/Aids is to increase the access to anti-retroviral treatment for everyone that needs it.

He also said that the other way is to identify, diagnose and treat tuberculosis.

Speaking to Angop, the source said that it is necessary to implement prevention programmes of tuberculosis and promote the integration of HIV services with those of tuberculosis.

According to him, it is needed to empower the traceability of HIV and counselling, as well as establishing connections with the services of prevention, support and treatment.

António Coelho said that any human being has the right to know which their level of infection associated to HIV and also has the right to treatment, health care and support.

He said that the leadership of the process by HIV-positive is essential to effectively resolve the problem of HIV/Aids.
