The National Disciplinary Committee of Appeals (NDCA) of the ANC has ruled that the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) of the ANC in the Eastern Cape may proceed with the disciplinary enquiry of ANC members who allegedly stormed the Canon Calata House on 16 February 2011.
The NDCA of the ANC received an application from the PDC of the ANC in the Eastern Cape which was made in terms of Rule 25.10 of the ANC Constitution, which stipulates that disciplinary proceedings against a member of the ANC should be concluded within 6 (six) months of the date that notice of the charges were served on the member. The NDCA may extend this period, upon receiving a written request from the relevant disciplinary committee. The application was a request to the NDCA to authorize the Eastern Cape PDC to continue with the disciplinary action against the ANC members who had allegedly participated in the storming of Canon Calata House and the assault of some provincial ANC officials on the 16 February 2011.
