It is now a quarter of a century since the journey to liberate people with disability started in Uganda in 1987, following the formation of an umbrella organisation to promote the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
This body was later to be known as National Union of the Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU), an institution that has, over the years, been praised both nationally and internationally for its commitment to illuminating disability issues. This struggle has been interesting and challenging, but also inspiring.
