The school term recently began, and my husband and I were in mourning. Not because the school fees tend to clear out our accounts (although, that made me a little sad because I couldn't buy that new dress for that very politically important wedding - a story for another day) but because we had to cut off our son's dreadlocks.
The whole dreadlock idea started when he began to be afraid of the barber's little machine. There would be a lot of tears and drama, so we decided to let the hair grow to the point where he would realise it was easier to have it cut off.
