Somalia: President to Attend Uganda's National Day Celebrations

Mogadishu — Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the newly elected president of Somalia has took off to Uganda, where he will attend the country's national day celebrations.

During his two-day visit to Uganda, Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will meet with President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, and Mohamed Morsy of Egypt as well as several African head of states, to discuss Somalia's transition process and current security developments.

This will be Mohamud's first outside trip since Somali MPs elected him as president on 10th September, 2012 during free and fear election in Mogadishu.

Uganda has now the bulk of UN-backed 17,000 African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces in Somalia.
