Parliament puts up a spirited fight in defence of their salaries.

CIVIL societies in Western will stage peaceful demonstrations against a decision by MPs to award themselves Sh2 billion send off package.

Western Kenya Legal Aid Oganization executive director Martin Wanyonyi said the activists will lead residents in expressing their displeasure by the decision to secretly load on them the burden of a hefty retirement package.

Wanyonyi said that the move by MPs would translate into a higher tax burden on Kenyans who have to also help raise money for salaries promised to teachers, university lecturers and doctors.
