Sierra Leone: Businessman Docked for Violating Copyright Act

A businessman, Lucky Osundu, on Friday appeared before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 for allegedly reproducing nine copies of a mathematics text book without the knowledge of the original author, Amadu Ovisco Conteh who is a teacher.

The accused was charged on three counts ranging from reproduction of eight copies of a book titled "Mathematics Made Simple" without the author's knowledge, conspiring with other persons to commit a felony and the infringement of the Copyright Act, contrary to Section 71(1) (b) of the Copyright Act, 2011.
