Zimbabwe: 32 Farmers Duped

A HARARE woman who allegedly duped 32 farmers of 190 tonnes of maize after misrepresenting that she pays more money than the Grain Marketing Board has appeared in court. Angela Chipiti of Willowvale Flats in Harare allegedly approached resettled farmers under Chief Chivero in Mhondoro and promised them US$360 per tonne, which she promised to pay for the maize after two weeks. The farmers gave Chipiti the maize, which she sold, but did not pay the farmers.

Chipiti pleaded not guilty to fraud charges when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma, who remanded her out of custody on US$300 bail.
