Nigeria: Gunmen Bomb Bank, Police Station in Jigawa

Dutse — Unknown gunmen yesterday bombed a police station and Unity Bank branch in Gwaram town in Jigawa State with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

The explosives blew off the roof of the bank and destroyed some part of it while the police station was still on fire as at yesterday afternoon.

The police anti-bomb squad was busy combing the area for other undetonated IED.

The Jigawa State Police Commissioner,Theophilus Kayode, who visited the scene with Governor Sule Lamido, said his men were immediately deployed to the scene of the incident soon after they got wind of it but nobody had so far been arrested. Governor Lamido said from all indications, the act was the handiwork of professional criminals.
