Namibia: Suspected Chicken Thief Dies After Assault

THE Police at Grootfontein are investigating a case of murder after a 51-year-old man died of his injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by the owner of chickens that he allegedly tried to steal.

The chicken owner was arrested on Tuesday and remains in custody.

The deceased man, Frans Khamiseb, was allegedly beaten up and thrown of the yard of the suspect after he was allegedly found trying to steal chickens at around midnight on October 1.

Khamiseb was found lying outside the yard the next morning and taken to hospital, but died on Friday.

Police Deputy Commissioner Moses Khaerabeb said an autopsy was conducted yesterday to determine the cause of death.
