Omuokere-Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, where four male students of the University of Port Harcourt were killed by an angry mob is now a ghost town. This was just as police arrested five more suspects in connection with the killings.
In the meantime, men of the Rivers State Police Command and 2 Amphibious Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt have taken over the entire community.
LEADERSHIP gathered that villagers and residents fled the community last Tuesday, when the students of the institution went on rampage to protest the killings and consequently razed dozens of building, while no fewer than 30 cars were destroyed.
When our correspondent visited the community, yesterday, many students were seen leaving in droves, following the closure of the university and the consequent suspension of academic activities indefinitely.
Meanwhile, five persons who were seen near the spot where the four students were killed at Omuokere, were arrested by security operatives who had been deployed to the town to maintain law and order.

Typical of our security operatives. Indiscriminate arrests! It is always the easy targets that suffer for the crimes of many. The operatives are too lazy, and too dumb to carryout proper investigations so they just arrest anyone nearby the crime scene! So many people are rotting away in jail just because of this incompetence. And it extends to the judiciary system also. Where is the justices in detaining someone for years without any charge?
Those Aluu people should all be arrested. They stood around watching the scene with relish. Nobody should pity such heartless, evil people that could kill such innocent young boys with such cruelty. Let them prove their innocence before they are released. Ikwere people have always been known for their wickedness but this surpasses the imagination. They are cursed!
