Kenya: Sports Ministry to Host Sitting Volleyball Course

Ministry of Sports has organised a one-week sitting volleyball coaching and refereeing course at the Nyayo Stadium. The course sponsored to the tune of Sh1m will be attended by 36 participants form the various counties in the country.

International volleyball officials-Miendo Salamba, Joseph Juma (coaching) and Tabitha Cherono (refereeing)- will overseee the event. Ministry of Sports' officer in charge of disability sports Caroline Kariuki said the course is part of preparations for the Rio 2016.

"We are hoping to organise similar courses for all the other sports for the disabled as we focus on the 2016 Paralympics games," she said Kariuki.

"We want to have enough qualified officials to identify and develop talents. This will also enhance more practice and training."

Similar course will be organised at the county level as the team also seeks to qualify for next year's World Championships set for Poland.
