Nairobi — At least three police officers were wounded on Friday night when twin explosions went off in Nairobi's Eastleigh area.

"Three of our officers have been injured," Provincial Police chief for Nairobi Moses Nyakwama told Capital FM News.

He said the explosions occurred at Mlango Kubwa, not far away from St Polycarp church where a nine-year old boy was killed in a grenade attack two weeks ago.

Another officer who went to the scene told Capital FM News that the explosions occurred in quick succession within a radius of one kilometer.

Police were yet to establish what caused the explosions, but detectives said they believe it is an improvised explosive device.

Nyakwama told Capital FM News that the officers who sustained injuries in the attack were not badly off.
