Egypt: Prime Minister Asks Switzerland to Accelerate Money Recovery

Prime Minister Hisham Kandil asked the Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter on Sunday to accelerate the recovery of Egypt's smuggled money.

In a meeting between the two in Cairo, they discussed enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Egypt once occupied second place in Africa to attract Swiss businessmen and investors, according to its foreign ministry's official webpage.

Switzerland froze $700 million belonging to 14 Egyptian ex-regime figures following the toppling of Hosni Mubarak.

The Swiss mission in Cairo announced last September that after consultations with the Egyptian authorities, it added 17 new names to the frozen-assets list.
