NCHELENGE Urban District Clinic has been closed due to poor sanitation, District Commissioner (DC) Joseph Chisakula has disclosed.
The DC has since challenged Government departments to uphold cleanliness in order to adhere to the policy of 'Keep Zambia Clean' campaign.
Mr Chisakula said the policy was clear as it stated that Government premises should be kept clean.
The DC sounded the warning in a walk-in interview in Mansa in the wake of the closure of Nchelenge Urban Clinic because of poor sanitation.
He regretted that in a space of three months, two Government facilities had been closed due to low levels of hygiene.
"In August, Nchelenge High School was closed and now it's Nchelenge Urban Clinic.
"Pupils were forced to open about two weeks later while the people who get treatment at the clinic have been disturbed," he said.
Mr Chisakula stressed that he would not sit down and watch the situation deteriorate.
He said it was disappointing that even an institution which was supposed to be promoting high standards of cleanliness could be closed because of poor sanitation
