Photo: Daily Nation/Xinhua Mogadishu — Unidentified attackers hurled hand grenades into a crowded wedding ceremony in Mogadishu on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.
Local witnesses said the sudden explosion in a crowded room full of celebratory women and children rocked the wedding event in Mogadishu's Hodan district, wounding 20 persons. Three persons were in critical condition, including a four-year old boy and a pregnant woman, local sources reported.
The bride and groom of the wedding, identified as Ms. Farhiya Egal and Mr. Mohamed Mohamud, survived the bombing although the groom's mother suffered wounds from the blast.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Al Shabaab group has claimed responsibility for previous attacks on public gatherings, as the extremist group opposes music and sports events.
