Luanda — The Angolan Executive is drafting a project to build an hydroelectric dam with the capacity for producing 600 megawatts of power in Benze locality, southern Cunene Province.
ANGOP learnt that studies are already underway aimed at knowing the viability of this medium term project. Speaking to ANGOP last Saturday, the governor of Cunene, António Didalelwa, said that the implementation of the project will depend on the governments of Angola and Namibia, since the costs for the construction of the mentioned infrastructure will be shared.
Meanwhile, Cunene Province gets electricity supply from the neighbouring Republic of Namibia, from a dam whose production capacity will be increased from six to ten megawatts.
