Nigeria: Mimiko Declared Winner of Ondo Poll

Jubilation in Ondo State Following Olusegun Mimiko's Win

With a total vote of 260.199 Governor Olusegun Mimiko Sunday beat his arch rivals, Oluwarotmi Akeredolu of ACN and Olusola Oke of PDP to emerge as the winner of the governorship election held in the state on Saturday.

Mimiko, the candidate of LP, gave Akeredolu the favoured candidate of analysts a crushing defeat as the ACN candidate could only score 143,512 votes behind Oke, who came second with 155,961.

The Returning Officer, Prof.Adebiyi Daramola, Vice chancellor of Federal University of Technology declared Mimiko as the winner of the election.

At exactly 1.30pm Mimiko was officially declared as the winner of the election.

Meanwhile, jubilant crowd stormed major streets in Akure the state capital singing in praise of Mimiko.

An elated governor basking in the euphoria of his victory promised to make Ondo State one of the best states in the federation
