Egypt: The Release of All Detainees During the Council of Ministers Events

Cairo Criminal Court decided to call on former interior minister Mansour al-Issawi and former military police commander Hamdi Badeen to testify on November 29th in the case of the Council of Ministers events and the burning of the Academic Institute that took place in December 2012.

The court also decided - according to Almasry alyoum's website- to call on the current commander of the president's guards, Mohammad Ahmed Zaki, who served as force commander during the events.

The court released all defendants who were arrested during the events that led to the deaths of about 20 people including Emad Effat, the Azhari Sheikh.
