Italian Foreign Minister, Giulio Terzi, visited Mogadishu this morning (October 23rd) meeting with Somali President , Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and Prime Minister, Abdi Farah Shirdon Saacid.
His visit was the first by any top Italian official for two decades and the first official visit to Somalia by a European Foreign Minister. During the visit, Mr. Terzi emphasized Italy's backing for the Federal State of Somalia. He also indicated support for the final draft of the new constitution, describing it as respectful of the fundamental rights of the people.
