Nigeria: FAAN Completes 2012 Hajj Co-Ordination - Official

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has completed the co-ordination of the 2012 transportation of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, a statement said.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications of FAAN, Mr Yakubu Dati, said in the statement in Lagos that unlike in the past, the pilgrims enjoyed a transformed and reconstructed Hajj terminal.

The statement said that the pilgrims, particularly those who travelled from Abuja, Kano and Kaduna airports, enjoyed the remodelled terminals.

"The whole facilities have been reconstructed and fitted with modern amenities to provide comfort for the pilgrims.

"The remodelling of the terminals is very significant, as it marks a departure from the previous ad-hoc arrangements.

"This is a testimony of the authority's determination to enhance and safeguard the welfare of the pilgrims by eliminating undue hardships and difficulties experienced when Nigerians perform their religious obligations," it said.

The statement said the renovated Hajj terminals at Kano, Kaduna, Abuja and Sokoto were part of the 11 terminals undergoing remodelling in the first phase of the airport remodelling project.
