Windhoek — The first 250 tonnes of uranium in the form of dried sodium diuranate (SDU), produced at the Trekkopje Mine in the Erongo Region, is ready for shipment from Walvis Bay to Areva's uranium treatment subsidiary in France.
This comes after Areva recently informed government that the Trekkopje mine development would be put on hold due to the decline in international uranium prices, that is until this new and unexpected development.
