Kenya: 200 Houses Razed in Kibera Fire

Over 200 houses in Laini Saba-Soweto in Kibera slums have burnt down after a fire broke out in the area. So far one person has reportedly been injured in the fire that broke out at around 8.am. today.

According to St John Ambulance spokesman Fred Majiwa, the casualty is a woman who sustained severe burns on a her back and legs. St John's official also managed to rescue a child from the fire.

"We have not yet established the cause of fire," said Majiwa "The lack of access routes into the area have made the operation difficult" he added. The fire brigade are also on site. Residents are also lending a hand in trying to put out the fire that has so far been contained.
