Kenya: Have Fewer Children, State Begs Kenyans

PLANNING minister Wycliffe Oparanya has called on Kenyans to give birth to the number of children they can afford to raise. "There is need to enhance the provision of high quality of life to Kenyans by managing the population growth to a sustainable level with regard to available resources," he said.

The minister was speaking yesterday in Nairobi during the National Council for Population and Development's certification ceremony and launch of the Population Policy for National Development.
