Many Nigerians Are Surprised That the Nine — Year Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) has been reviewed by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) less than three years after the implementation of the curriculum started nationwide in primary and junior secondary schools.

Not a few have questioned the rationale for this exercise. Many are wondering what new issues came up in the education sector in the last three years to have necessitated a review of the BEC that was nationally and internationally applauded when it was developed.
