Nigeria: Artistes Stage Charity Concert for Flood Victims

The unprecedented flooding, caused by high seasonal rainfall around the country and the subsequent dam release, has had a devastating effect on the entire Niger Delta region. This destructive force of nature, which spans over 10 km inland, has ravished over a hundred communities within the area; wantonly destroying property and threatening the lives of the local people.

As a result of this, Nigerian entertainers led by multiple awards winning singer, Sammie Okposo, under the aegis of his Sammie Okposo Hope Initiative are planning a charity concert to raise more funds to support the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) who has confirmed the registration of over 50,000 internally displaced people in Delta State, where flood has ravaged a number of communities. This charity concert is essentially for the people of Delta State because Okposo's own community, Isoko was seriously affected.
