The title deed of three pieces of land put up by Makadara MP Mike Sonko to secure the release of three Mombasa Republican Council officials are genuine. A search at the Kwale lands office proved the title deeds genuine, said an official who did not wish to be identified.
Sonko was accompanied by Muslim for Human Rights officials to the three pieces of land in Ukunda, Golini and Kundutsi in Kwale town.
The three pieces of land are valued at about Sh14 million. However, the documents were not signed by 3pm yesterday as the Kwale registrar of lands Evans Marwanga was not in office. "We are on our way to Mombasa but the problem is at the ferry," said Festus Mwaniki, Sonko's personal assistant.
Efforts by the Star to get a comment from Marwanga were futile as calls to his cellphone did not go through.bThe MRC lawyer Ananiah Mwaboza said the three could not be released because the Mombasa court has to append the final signature.
The title are to secure the release of MRC chairman Omar Mwamnuadzi, his wife Mwaimuna Hamisi, spokesperson Rashid Mraja, secretary general Randu Nzai.
