Somalia: Prime Minister Unveils His New Cabinet

Mogadishu — Somalia's PM Abdi Farah Shirdon has on Sunday officially nominated his first cabinet ministers, after weeks of wide-extensive consultations with the president and parliament speaker in Mogadishu, the capital.

Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has appointed 10-member cabinet ministers, including a woman as the first female foreign minister of the horn of Africa country.

Of the 10 member-cabinet that the Prime Minister Shirdon named today, many are new faces, not seen in the political arena for long. Others have been known as members in the former transitional governments.

The new ministers and their posts;

1-Fowsiyo Yusuf Hajji Aden, foreign minister and the Deputy Prime minister

2-Abdihakim Mohamoud Fiqi, defence minister

3-Abdullahi Abyan Nuur, the minister of Justice

4-Abdullahi Alimoge Hirsi, the Minister of Information

5-Muhayadin Mohamed, the minister of Reconstruction

6-Abdirisak Omar Mohamed, the ministry of Natural Resources

7-Maryam Kassim, the minister of social development

8-Mohamud Ahmed Hassan, the minister of Industry & Trade

9-Mohamud Hassan Suleiman, the minister of Finance & Planning

10-Abdikarim Husein Guled as interior & Security minister

However, They (cabinet) are expected to go to the Federal parliament in the coming days or weeks for approval.
